Sebastian was a small dinosaur. He was gentle and brave. He lived in the Crystal Nebula, where the air sparkled like tiny gems.
One morning, the Nebula looked wrong.
The pink and blue lights were gone.
Everything looked gray.
Sebastian blinked. “Oh no. Colors gone.”
A soft swish came from behind a crystal rock.
Out popped an Imaginary Animal named Pibi.
Pibi was fuzzy, bright, and a little silly. Sometimes Pibi had wings. Sometimes Pibi had fins. Pibi changed when Pibi giggled.
Pibi whispered, “I think a Monster took the colors.”
Sebastian held Pibi’s paw. “We find colors. Together.”
They walked on a shiny path.
Crunch, crunch, crunch.
The crystals made tiny music.
Soon they saw a cave made of glassy stone.
At the cave mouth sat the Monster.
The Monster was big.
The Monster was lumpy.
The Monster looked sleepy.
And the Monster had a sack.
The sack glowed a little.
Sebastian’s tummy felt wiggly.
Pibi hid behind Sebastian’s tail.
Sebastian took a slow breath. “Hello, Monster.”
The Monster sniffed. “Mine.”
Sebastian pointed to the gray sky. “Nebula sad. Need colors back.”
The Monster hugged the sack. “Pretty. Warm. I keep.”
Pibi peeked out and said, “Maybe Monster lonely.”
Sebastian stepped closer, but not too close. “Monster, you like pretty lights?”
The Monster nodded, very slow.
Sebastian said, “We can share. We can make a color game.”
The Monster blinked. “Game?”
Pibi bounced. Boing! “Yes! A silly game! If we make you laugh, you give one color.”
The Monster’s mouth was a straight line.
Sebastian thought hard.
He was an ingenious little dinosaur.
Sebastian put a crystal pebble on his nose.
He wobbled.
He wobbled more.
He said, “I am… a teeter dino!”
Plip!
The pebble fell.
Bonk!
It landed on his own foot.
Sebastian said, “Ouchie.”
Pibi laughed, “Hee-hee!”
The Monster made a tiny sound.
“Hrmp.”
Almost a laugh.
Pibi turned into a long, bendy creature and did a slow twirl.
“Whoooooosh!”
Pibi accidentally booped the Monster’s nose.
The Monster’s eyes crossed.
The Monster snorted.
Then the Monster laughed.
“HA!”
A bright red light popped out of the sack like a bubble.
It floated up.
The red went back into the Nebula.
The sky got a red ribbon.
Sebastian clapped. “More!”
They played again.
Sebastian did a dino tip-toe.
Pibi made pretend hiccups.
The Monster laughed again.
A blue light popped free.
Then a yellow light.
Then green.
Then purple.
The Crystal Nebula shimmered and sang.
The sack became lighter.
The Monster looked calmer.
Sebastian said softly, “Monster, you can still have pretty lights. Come see.”
Sebastian led the Monster to a crystal pond.
The pond held the Nebula like a mirror.
Colors danced on the water.
The Monster whispered, “So many. Here.”
Pibi nodded. “No need to steal.”
The Monster opened the sack all the way.
One last glow rolled out.
It was a tiny crystal star.
It landed in Sebastian’s hands.
It was cool and smooth.
It sparkled with all the colors.
The Monster rumbled, “Gift. For brave dino.”
Sebastian’s eyes grew wide. “For me?”
The Monster nodded.
Pibi whispered, “Treasure!”
Sebastian held the crystal star close.
It made a warm, soft light.
Now Sebastian could shine a little light anywhere.
The Monster sat by the pond.
Not scary now.
Just big.
Just quiet.
Sebastian said, “Friends?”
The Monster smiled, small but real. “Friends.”
They all watched the Crystal Nebula glow again.
And Sebastian’s new star twinkled in his pocket all the way home.
