Spider Man is a Superhero.
He is brave, but gentle.
He likes to help.
Today he walks to the Mystic Statues.
Big stone statues stand very still.
They look sleepy.
The wind goes shhh.
Spider Man whispers, “Hello, statues.”
A tiny echo answers, “Hello… hello…”
Spider Man smiles.
He hears a little clink.
A small Toy rolls on the ground.
It is a toy drum.
But it is quiet.
No boom. No tap.
The Toy drum wiggles.
It looks sad.
Spider Man kneels.
“Are you lost?” he asks.
The Toy drum says, “My sound is gone.”
Spider Man feels curious.
Where did the sound go?
He looks behind a statue.
He looks under a stone step.
No sound.
A door creaks.
From behind a statue comes an Inventor.
She has a shiny belt of tools.
She has kind eyes.
She says, “Hi! I make things.”
Spider Man says, “The Toy drum is quiet.”
The Inventor nods.
“Maybe a tiny part fell out,” she says.
They listen.
Spider Man puts his ear close.
He hears a teeny rattle.
The Inventor says, “Aha.”
They search together.
Spider Man shoots a soft web.
It goes whoosh.
The web makes a little net.
They sweep the ground.
Click!
A tiny silver button is caught.
The Inventor laughs.
“Found it!”
But then—
The Mystic Statues start to hum.
Hmmmm.
The ground tick-tick-ticks.
The Toy drum shakes.
The Toy drum says, “I’m scared!”
Spider Man says, “I’m here.”
He holds the drum close.
The Inventor says, “The statues are curious too.
They like music.
They are waking up.”
Spider Man looks up.
One statue has a stone mouth.
It opens a tiny bit.
A soft voice says, “Song?”
Spider Man says, “We will fix the drum.”
The Inventor sits.
She uses a mini screwdriver.
Twist, twist.
She pops the button back in.
“Ready,” she says.
Spider Man taps.
Tap.
BOOM!
A happy sound!
The Toy drum giggles.
“Boom-boom!” it sings.
The statues glow.
Not scary.
Warm.
Like sunset.
They sway a little.
Stone shoulders go wiggle-wiggle.
Spider Man laughs.
“Dance statues!”
The Inventor claps.
Clap, clap.
The Toy drum wants to try.
It rolls in a circle.
Boom-boom-boom!
Then a small stone panel opens.
Inside is a treasure.
A bright sticker badge.
It says: SUPER SOUND HERO.
The Inventor gives it to Spider Man.
“You helped with patience,” she says.
Spider Man puts it on.
He feels proud.
The Toy drum says, “Thank you!”
Spider Man says, “You are welcome.”
The statues whisper, “Good night.”
They become still again.
Spider Man and the Inventor wave.
They walk home.
The Toy drum rolls beside them.
Boom… boom… soft and happy.
And the Mystic Statues keep their warm, quiet glow.
